JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have shot three tribal elders in the Kama district of eastern Nangarhar province.
According to source, the tribal elders were residents of Lalpura district and had gone to Kama district for attending a tribal meeting.
A reliable source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the incident took place in Shergar area of the district on Friday night.
The source said the slain tribal elders were on their way to attend a tribal meeting when unknown armed men opened fire and killing them. The attackers managed to escape.
A manhunt by security forces was underway to arrest the attackers, the source added.
Meanwhile, Roman Momand, head of Lalpura district youth council, identified the slain tribal elders as Malik Ghafar, Malik Bashton and Malik Gulistan.
However, the Nangarhar officials have said nothing in this regard. There was no claim of responsibility for the killing of the three tribal elders.
