GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The body of a private university head has been found in the Dehyak district of southern Ghazni province after nearly one month of his abduction, an official said on Thursday.
Dr. MerajWaqar was kidnapped by unknown armed men from his house a month ago and his body was found on Wednesday in Laghbad locality.
Ghazni Governor Spokesperson Hafiz Umar told Pajhwok Afghan News security officials had been told to investigate the incident.
“Waqar was mysteriously killed, it has nothing to do with the Taliban. He was a businessman too and may have had some personal disputes. We will investigate and unearth the cause of his kidnapping and murder,” he said.
Deceased Dr. Waqar’s family member wishing not to be named said: “One month ago, some armed men forced their way into our house and introduced themselves as Taliban and said they wanted to take Dr. Waqar for investigation and will let him go.”
He asked the government to investigate the incident and punish the perpetrators.
