HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Mullah Noor Ahmad, dubbed by many as ambassador of peace, says efforts should be made to prevent small disputes among people as mini differences sometimes lead to insecurity and instability in society.
Mullah Noor Ahmad, 42, a resident of Badghis Jawand district, told Pajhwok Afghan News there was no government control in most villages and public disputes were resolved by ulema and tribal elders.
“The main trigger behind local disputes is personal enmity over meadows and other issues, due to which people fight and many are killed and injured.”
He said sometimes differences between two persons that could be resolved easily soared and developed to differences between two tribes that even lead to casualties on the two sides.
According to Mullah Noor Ahmad, in recent years he intervened in several disputes in Hazrat Mullah, Rabat, NangabadUlya, NangabadSafli, ChashmaGrarm and other villages. Most of these disputes were settled with the support of ulema.
He said: “Most cases I faced with in Herat province are related to disputes between husband and wife. The source of these differences are that the couple are brought up in different environment during their individual life, it is difficult for them to understand each other and this is a real issue between husband and wife. I managed to mediate and reconcile between three couples who suffered from similar issues and managed to prevent their divorce.”
He said most problems generated among Internally Displaced Families in the Shaidae Camp are caused by mini problems and then developed into a large issue.
He added problems and disputes generated among families in refugee camp are because of economic issues.
Mullah Noor Ahmad said he traveled to his ancestral area for resolving disputes and managed to resolveyears long dispute between two tribes in the ChasmaAb area of Jawand district.
He said his father also strived for resolving public disputes and he continued to follow his father’s way. He believed small issues among families and individuals soared to big issues if not resolved. He stressed over peace and stability and co-existence in society.
This comes as majority residents of Jawand district said resolution of disputes through legal and judicial institutions was a lengthy and time-consuming process thus they preferred to solve their problems through local councils or influential individuals.
Ameer Mohammad, a resident of ChashmaGaram district, was pleased with the efforts of Mullah Noor Ahmad in resolving public disputes and said Mullah Noor Ahmad had resolved several issues in the district.
He dubbed Noor Ahmad as ambassador of peace and added he resolved his family dispute and his brothers were saved from a huge problem.
Mawlavi Abdullah, one of the ulema, said individual who worked for resolution of public dispute were awarded by Allah. He stressed forgiveness and tolerance was the best way to resolve disputes.
He said Allah says in the holy Quran that murder of a Muslim a big sin and people who commit murder will go to the hell.
Disputes between public and tribes in Afghanistan last for years and claim precious lives. In a fresh such incident three weeks back, a youth was murdered one day before his marriage due to land dispute in the southeastern part of the country.
