PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Police officials in central Logar province say the passport distribution process has been suspended due to technical issues.
Logar residents lamented the halt, saying it was the third time the passport distribution process had been disrupted by technical problems.
Police spokesman Ahmadullah Anas told Pajhwok Afghan News the distribution of passports had been suspended for an indifferent period of time.
He did not give details about the technical problem but said the Passport Department was trying to resolve the issue and resume the process as soon as possible.
Abdul Baqi, a resident of Mohammad Agha district, said he had come to Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, a month ago for getting his passport. But he is yet to receive the identity document.
The resident said he had patients at home and wanted to take them to Pakistan for medical treatment.
With the passport distribution drive suspended and the condition of his ailing relatives deteriorating, the man said he did not know what to do.
Baqi asked the officials concerned to resume the service as soon as possible and resolve people’s problems.
This is the third time that the passport distribution process in Logar has halted due to technical issues.
