KABUL (Pajhwok): The government has ordered military officials not to recruit people in the military who did not complete the required age otherwise the Ministry of AmrBilMaruf and Nahi Anil Munkar will remove them from the military ranks.
Bakhtar News Agency, a state owned news outlet in a Twitter post, quoting officials from the Ministry of AmrBilMaruf and Nahi Anil Munkar, has asked military officials not to recruit minors.
Mulavi Mohammad SadeqAkefMohajer, spokesman for the Ministry of AmrBilMaruf and Nahi Anil Munkar, talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, said, “Recruiting minors is not permissible under Islamic law and will pave the way for corruption in society.”
“Under the previous administration in the past 20 years, people have bad memory about the recruitment of minors in military, people and the Shari’a are against it,” he added.
Mohajer said that the leadership of the “Islamic Emirate” has issued an official order that minors should not be recruited into military ranks, and the Ministry of Interior has responsibility to clear military ranks from children.
The new caretaker government did not define the legal age for troops’ recruitment, but under the previous government, people under the age of 18 were not allowed to serve in military.
This comes as the Afghan government has also set up a commission for clearing military ranks from ‘undesirable’ and ‘opportunist’ individuals.
Based on Clearance Commission, a total of 4,000 individuals have been removed from military ranks countrywide.
