KABUL (Pajhwok): The national bus service has resumed in capital Kabul after a long delay, an official said on Wednesday.
Melli Bus Department Deputy Head HameedGulAmeeri told reporters here that after coordinated efforts by the Melli Bus Department and the Ministry of Finance, the bus service in Kabul had resumed after a long delay.
“From today onward, the bus service in Kart-i-Naw, Mairwais Maidan, Shahrak-i-Khurasan and some other parts of capital Kabul has resumed,” he said.
He said currently the Melli Bus Department offered service in Herat, Balkh, Nangarhar, Paktia and Parwan provinces. He added efforts were on to start the Melli Bus service in Paktia province as well.
Melli Bus Department Head Mohammad Ayoub Mohammadi told Pajhwok Afghan News 100 buses started offering transportation services in Kabul today (Wednesday).
He said the purpose was to provide transportation facility to people and control high fares.
He asked drivers to ensure fair behavior with people and provide them with comfortable transportation.
According to officials, currently 926 functional and non-functional buses are available with the Melli Bus Department.
