KABUL (Pajhwok): The value of afghani increased against the US dollar while the prices of gas, sugar and ghee soared during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.
Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada market in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that one US dollar was accounted for 102 afghanis and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 550 afghanis today compared to 104 afghanis and 550 afghanis respectively last week.
The price of liquefied gas increased
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in KululaPushta area of Kabul, said that the price of a kilogram of the commodity was dropped from 90afs to 88afs this week.
A worker at Ahmad Yar Group Fuel Station said that the price of a liter of petrol was 81afs and diesel 77afs, the same rates as last week.
The price of some food items decreased
Zamarai Safi, head of Kabul Food Traders Union, said that the price of a bag of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour decreased from 2,450afs to 2,400afs and 24.5kg of Pakistani rice from 2,800afs to 2,600afs.
However, he said that the price of a bag of 49kg of Indian sugar increased from 3,150afs to 3,200afs, a tin of 16 liters of Indonesian ghee from 2,750afs to 2,800afs. But he said that the price of a kilogram of Indonesian green tea was 400afs and the same quantity of African black tea 420afs, the same prices as last week.
Hamid Sofizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul, said that the retail price of 49kg of Kazakhstani flour was 2,500afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,650afs, 49kg of Indian sugar 3,250afs, a tin of 16 liters of Malaysian ghee 2,850afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 450afs and the same quantity of African black tea 500afs, higher than wholesale rates.
Gold prices remain unchanged
Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Maryam area of Kabul, said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold was 4,750afs and the same quantity of Russian variety 3,850afs.
