KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): A Turkish charity organization on Monday distributed food aid to 450 orphaned children in southeastern Khost province.
The aid included 50 kilograms of flour, seven kilograms of rice and 10 liters of oil.
EhsanShami, an official of the foundation, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the aid was distributed to the children on humanitarian grounds.
He said the orphans, residents of Nadir Shah Kot and YaqubiSabari districts of Khost, had lost their fathers in the war during the previous government.
He added that besides Khost, his organization had also distributed the aid in other provinces of the country and would continue the program in the future.
Iman, a 12-years-old orphan from Nadir Shah Kot district, told Pajhwok Afghan News he was happy for the aid at times of economic problems.
He also called on other charities to help other orphans and poor families in the country.
NabiulRehman, a resident of of Sabari district, said he brought with him around 200 children from the district, who had lost their fathers in the conflict during the previous government.
He thanked all countries and charities, including Turkey, for helping the needy Afghans.
