KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced the reopening of schools for girl students has been delayed until further notice.
On Tuesday, the MoE renewed its commitment to safeguarding the Afghans’ right to education and asked people to send their children to school.
The ministry pledged to put in place all required resources and create an enabling environment for the education of girls and boys across the country.
According to the state-run Bakhtar News Agency, the ministry will inform all schools of the delay in the resumption of classes for girl students of grade six and above.
“All schools will be formally informed about this after a comprehensive plan is devised and issued by the leadership of Islamic Emirate in line with Islamic and Afghan traditions.”
Pajhwok tried to contact the MoE for comments, but failed.
The Taliban orders to shut secondary schools came hours after they reopened. Government spokesman Inamullah Samangani confirmed the closure. “Yes, it’s true,” he told AFP.
The news agency said its team was busy filming at Zarghona High School in Kabul on Wednesday when a teacher entered and ordered everyone to go home.
