KABUL (Pajhwok): National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) officials say their estimation shows Afghanistan population reached 34.3 million people in current solar year, 1401.
HasibullahMoahid, deputy NSIA head, said on Wednesday during a conference about figures and statistical information for 1401 solar year, that17.5 million (51 percent) of the population were male and 16.8 million (49 percent) were female.
He said that 24.2 million or 70.6 percent of the population belong to rural areas and 8.6 million or 25 percent are living in urban areas while 1.5 million or 4.4 percent are nomads.
Moahid said that 45.5 percent of Afghans are below 15 years of age, 49.7 percent are of working age and 2.7 percent are over 64 years old.
He said that in the trade sector, the country's GDP reaches 1,233 billion afghanis and the per capita GDP reaches 36,725 afghanis.
He also said that the consumer price indexin in 1400 solar year or 2021 shows that the inflation rate was 5.1 percent, which shows decline compared to the previous year.
In the trade sector, the total registered import of goods in 1399 solar year or 2020 was amounted to $6,538 million and exports $777 million compared to $5,308 million worth of imports in 1400 fiscal year and $850 million worth of imports.
Moahid added the import of services in the fiscal year 1400 was about $807 million, which shows a decrease of 21 percent compared to the fiscal year 1399 or 2020.
The total import of goods and services in 1400 worth $6,178 million, which shows a decrease of 19 percent compared to 1399 fiscal year, he said.
He said that export of services in 1400 worth around $451 million, which shows a decrease of 35.5 percent compared to the fiscal year 1399.
The number of health centers in 1400 reached 3,357 compared to 3,367 in 1399 solar year, he added.
NSIA figures show that1,239 million kWh per hour electricity was produced domestically while 5,315 million kWh of electricity was imported per hour from abroad in 1400 solar year.
