KABUL (Pajhwok): The residents of capital Kabul complain about soaring fuel and gas prices while Kabul Municipality says a commission is being formed to monitor prices.
Recently, the price of one litre of petrol surged from 73afs to 81afs in capital Kabul, one litre diesel rate increased from 79afs to 86afs while gas price jumped from 65afs to 75afs.
Hameedullah, a resident of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News fuel and gas prices had surged recently and people were unable to buy them.
“In addition to unemployment and dwindling economic situation, fuel and gas rates are gradually increasing in Kabul which has created several problems for the people,” he said.
He said soaring fuel prices led to increasing in transport fares and that is another headache for the masses.
He asked the government to control fuel prices in capital Kabul and other parts of the country.
A taxi driver Sher Ahmad said he was unable to earn money due to increasing fuel prices.
He also asked the government to control soaring fuel and gas prices in order to provide relief to the masses.
Kabul Municipality Spokesperson NiamatullahBarakzai said a commission would be formed to control prices and prevent hoarding in Kabul markets.
He said the commission will strive to ensure exact price list for fuel, gas and other essential items.
