PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The petroleum department of northern Baghlan province has collected more than 17 million afghanis in revenue during the past ten months, showing a 77 percent increase over the previous year’s returns.
During the same period last year, 10.2 million afghanis revenue had been collected, said Qari Nasrullah, director of the Petroleum Department.
He said they collected taxes from the fuel tanks on time and also checked the amount of fuel per liter.
Haji Masoom, a member of the Baghlan Fuel Tankers' Union, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the government had installed machines in the fuel tanks to measure fuel so that no one could increase or decrease the volume of a liter.
He said no one could temper with the machines which show how much fuel a fuel tank sells in a month, so that could be one of the reasons for the increase in revenue.
During the past 10 months, the price of one liter of petrol has increased from 65 afghanis to 85 afghanis.
