KABUL (Pajhwok): Two Daesh militants have been arrested during an intelligence-based operation (IBO), the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) said on Wednesday.
The detainees wanted to attack an imambargah in Kabul, the directorate wrote on its Twitter handle:
“Laeq, cultural aide to Daesh, runs a propaganda campaign against the Islamic system under the name of Humayun on social media was arrested during a raid.”
GDI tweeted: “Another rebel who had a social media account in the name of Abu Khalid and wanted to attack a Shia mosque in Kabul using a jacket bomb was arrested by intelligence personnel.”
In a video clip, the militant said heisreal name was Ziaullah and that he hailed from Kabul’s Paghman district.
He confessed to being tasked with attacking a Shiite mosque in the capital, but he was arrested before he could implement the plot.
