Former police commander gunned down in Herat

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): A former Afghan Local Police (ALP) Commander from western Ghor province has been killed in western Herat province, an official said on Saturday.

Ghor Police Spokesperson Abdul Rahman Badri said the incident happened on Thursday morning in the Sherkhaj area of Chest district.

The slain commander is Shah Mahmood and hailed from the Khawajagan village of Dolina district. he fled to Iran after the takeover of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

After repatriation, Shah Mahmood was killed by unknown gunmen in the Chest district of Herat.

No group claimed responsibility for the murder of the former ALP commander.
