KABUL (Pajhwok): A three-member group of kidnappers and two fraudsters have been arrested and one person rescued from the abductors during separate operations, the Directorate General of Intelligence said on Thursday.
The directorate wrote on its Twitter page that the three-member kidnap gang had kidnapped Atif, son of Mohammad Asif, from Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province last week.
The kidnappers had demanded $200,000 from Atif’s family. The three kidnappers were arrested during a series of operations and the abducted person was also rescued.
The Directorate General of Intelligence also wrote that its forces arrested two people who used forged documents and stamps of the Ministry of Defense and introduced themselves to the people as officials of the ministry's purchasing department.
The two were arrested while trying to flee the country, the department said, adding that fake cards, documents, stamps and fake letters attributed to the Ministry of Defense were recovered from the detainees.
