KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) and the Fire Department have installed three fire extinguishers refilling machines worth more than 14 million afghanis in the Puli Charkhi industrial zone.
Noorullah Ansar, Fire Department head, while inaugurating the machines, said: “The machines will provide residents and companies the services of refilling fire extinguishers according to international standards at a 10% discount from the market price”.
In order to take preventive measures to prevent possible fires, survey teams of the Fire Department used to visit companies, factories and other institutions, but their security guards did not allow them in and make different excuses and answer them from behind the gate, he complained.
“To provide better services, the Fire Department is ready to hear your suggestions and ideas about all related equipment and services,” Ansar said.
“To control possible fire eruption incidents, we have deployed mobile units of fire extinguishers in limits of Sabz industrial parks as well”, he continued.
The newly installed refilling machines were imported to the country prior to the political change from Turkey and the machines have the capacity of refilling up to 800 fire extinguishers in 24 hours.
Ansar urged all companies and industries to send their employees to participate in fire fighting training.
“All companies, factories, industries and other production centers should equip their institutions with fire extinguishers and alarms or face the legal consequences”.
He once again repeated that all companies, factories, industries, gas suppliers and trade companies had been advised to equip their buildings with fire extinguishers.
“But if they do not comply with the advice, such behavior will have legal consequences.”
Waisuddin Qaderi, ANDMA head, said since the Islamic Emirate’s takeover, their department put out 1,800 fire eruption events all over the country. Their department registered 18 events in which people drowned in water or fell into wells and five individuals were rescued.
Abdul Jabbar Safi, the head of industrialists union said: “We ask the Islamic Emirate to further tighten security of industries and fight corruption for the development of the country”.
Safi urged the public to allow fire fighting vehicles to move freely on roads to extinguish fire and cooperate with officials of the Fire Department.
SherBazKaminZada said all fire extinguisher capsules were being refilled according to international standards and could distinguish fire of up to 25 houses.
