KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) executive committee will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the latest developments and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan tomorrow (Wednesday.
The OIC tweeted on Tuesday that the OIC General Secretariat will on Wednesday at its headquarters in Jeddah hold an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee to discuss the latest developments and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
“This is in the light of the recent measures imposed by the de facto Government in Afghanistan by closing down schools and universities to girls and suspending women work in national and international non-government organizations,” the OIC tweeted.
Last month, the caretaker government asked public and private universities to suspend women’s higher education with immediate effect and then asked foreign and domestic NGOs to send their female workers home until further notice, drawing international outcry.
