ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Reports about early resumption of passports issuance process are untrue, the General Directorate of Passports said on Saturday.
The National Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) in a report quoted Noorullah Patman, the spokesman of General Directorate of Passport, as saying that they had resolved the technical issues and the distribution of passports would resume in near future.
On the other hand, there were also some reports on social media that said, three million passports have been printed abroad and they will be delivered to the country soon.
But the General Directorate of Passport on its twitter page said the reports about the resumption of passports distribution were incorrect.
The passports distribution will resume after fundamental solution of technical issues, the source added.
The government on October 7 announced postponing the passport issuance process until further notice to resolve technical issues and further speed up the process.
Three months have elapsed, but the passports distribution process is yet to be resumed, while some people need passports and ask for its resumption.
