SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A newly-built commercial market worth 44.3 million afghanis has provided work opportunity for 145 people in the Aqcha district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Thursday.
Hamidullah Hamid, financial and administrative director of Aqcha district, told Pajhwok Afghan News that construction work of the market was launched in 2016, but it could not be completed due to some problems. However, eventually the market was completed and put into service today.
He said the structure consumed 44.3 million afghanis provided from the municipality budget of the district.
He said various items were sld in the market having three floors and 145 shops.
He said 145 people were directly employed in the market and dozens of others indirectly benefited.
Khairullah Ehsas, a resident of the district, who has rented a shop in the market, told Pajhwok Afghan News that he used to sell goods on the road, but currently he had rented a shop for his business.
Haji Jan Mohammad, another resident of the district, said: “Currently, all those who were selling goods on the roads have been given a dignified job in the market and are very happy.”
He added: “Security is currently ensured throughout Aqcha district, the fratricide that existed before has now disappeared.”
