KABUL (Pajhwok): Rina Amiri, US special representative for human rights, women and girls of Afghanistan, has said the rights of women have a safe place in Islam, so the world must stand by the women and girls of Afghanistan.
Rina Amiri wrote on her twitter page: “My talks and interactions during my trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with representatives of Albania, Bangladesh, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and the representative of Organization of Islamic Countries were promising, all of them said that the rights of women have a safe place in Islam and their economic development is very important”.
“They all agreed to continue to work together and support Afghans through diplomatic channels,” Amiri said.
She said: “The oppression of Afghan women and girls is a terrible beginning. This policy should not become normal for Muslim countries and the world should stand with Afghan women and girls”.
Amiri’s recent remarks come while officials of the acting government of Afghanistan have always emphasized that they are committed to rights of girls and women enshrined in Islam.
