KABUL (Pajhwok): The construction work of New Kabul City has kicked off after the contract signed between the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MoUDH) and Khawar Construction Company.
Shaikh Noorulhaq Anwari, the Administrative Affairs General Director, said time has arrived when the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA) should accelerate efforts for the economic development of the country.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, PMs economic affairs aid, said the New Kabul City would be built on modern style and all necessary facilities would be made available, he said the new city would help reduce congestion in Kabul City.
Mawlavi Abdul Salaam Hanafi, PMs administrative affairs aide, said all traders and investor had the responsibility to stand shoulder to shoulder by the IEA and rebuild Afghanistan.
Shaikh Hamdullah Noumani said all the documents related to the area were strictly monitored and any kind of usurpation had been prevented.
According to the MoUD the new Kabul City is situated in the northern part of Kabul, the city would be built in Deh Sabz district and would also include some areas from Shakardarah, Qarababagh, Estalif, Kalakan districts.
The project would be implemented in two phases; each phase would take 15 years. During the first phase 2,500 homes for over one million people would be built.
