HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Turkish Counsel General Sinan Alikhan has pledged Ankara continued support for infrastructure development in Afghanistan.
The top Turkish diplomat made the commitment during the inauguration ceremony of 100 ablution rooms in the Jami Mosque of Herat City.
The construction of 100 ablution rooms for men and women was kicked off by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) six months ago.
Herat Governor Mawlana Noor Ahmad Islam Jar thanked TIKA for the construction of ablution rooms in the Grand Mosque and said the provincial government was fully committed to ensure the protection of historic sites and monuments.
Information and Social Affairs Department Head Mawlana Naeemulhaq said cooperation in development and infrastructure projects in historic places like the Grand Mosque in Herat City was a proud moment for the Turkish and Afghan nations.
Turkish Counsel General said the people of Turkey enjoyed friendly relation with the people of Afghanistan and in the future TIKA will continue cooperation in Herat province.
