KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan embassy in Islamabad says the bodies of four Afghans have been found in hospitals and other places.

The corpses have been found days after Pakistani police arrested 1,000 undocumented Afghan refugees in the last two weeks.

In a statement, the diplomatic mission deplored despite frequent promises from Pakistani government, police continued harassing Afghan nationals.

Pakistani police have detained about 1,000 Afghan immigrants, mostly undocumented, in raids over the past fortnight.

The arrests were made in Bara Kahu, Tarnol, Mehrabadi, Golra Sharif, Shams Colony, Sabzi Mandi, Shahzad Town, Khanna Pul, Peshawar Mor, E-11 and other areas. As many as 485 Afghans were taken into custody despite having legal residency documents.

“Unfortunately, in addition to harassment, there were also incidents of murder., For instance, Faridullah, son of Ghulam Jailani, was arrested in Islamabad.

“Amanullah, son of Takar Khan, and Wali Sher Mohammad detained in Shams Colony and Darwish son of Atiqullah were held in AdialaJial.”

Eventually, it said, the bodies of these detainees were found in hospital and other places days after they went missing.”

The embassy asked Islamabad to put an end to the ongoing crackdown on Afghan refugees, saying the arrests were having a negative impact on ties between the two countries.
