GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): One person has been killed and 45 others have been wounded as a result of a traffic accident in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Sunday.
Police spokesman Abu Khalid Sarhadi told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in limits of the provincial capital.
The casualties occurred a 580-type bus plunged into a stream when it reached a damaged culvert on Saturday evening.
The highway security personnel rushed to the scene and evacuated the injured to the Ghazni Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
He said: “Security forces were tasked with guarding this bus and goods of passengers at night.”
The speeding bus caught fire, but a team of firefighter team rushed to the site and prevented the vehicle from being burnt, Sarhadi added.
A day earlier, seven people, including women, were killed and injured in two traffic accidents in the province.
