West asks donors to support Herat quake survivors

ATLANTA (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West has called on donor agencies to continue supporting the earthquake -affected people in western Herat province.

Several earthquakes have rattled the province recently, killing and injuring thousands of people, flattening a large number of houses and severely affecting residents.

West wrote on his X account: “Additional earthquakes struck the Herat region this morning, making a difficult humanitarian situation even worse.”

He added: “Must continue to support relief orgs as they are meeting Afghans’ urgent needs, including shelter, drinking water, medicine and more.”
