KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan share in greenhouse gases emission was trivial but it remained the most effected country by greenhouse gases, an official said on Monday.
Abdul Salaam Haqqani, finance and administration head of the Environmental Protection Authority, said developed countries produced most of the greenhouse gases.
He was addressing a gathering marking the World Climate Change Week October 16-20.
He stressed Afghanistan is among countries that has little role in producing greenhouse gases but on the contrary it suffered the most.
Haqqani asked the international institutions to complete their half-finished projects in the environment sector without considering political issues and allocate a specific budget to reduce the damages caused by the climate change.
UNAMA Representative Diva said that climate change is a shared issue and should be addressed without ethnical, gender, language and geographical considerations.
She assured that the United Nations will do everything in its power to reduce the negative effects of climate change in Afghanistan, but emphasized that financial resources alone cannot solve this challenge and all parties must play their positive role in it.
