FARAH (Pajhwok): A main road and a square have been reconstructed in the capital of western Farah province at a cost of 25 million afs, officials said on Saturday.
Farah City Mayor Maulvi Idrees Talib told Pajhwok Afghan News the 347 metres long and 30 metres wide road had been rebuilt by the municipality.
Both lanes of the road had been reconstructed according to basic standards, equipped with solar streetlights at a cost of 23.5 million afs, Talib said.
Simultaneously, a square called the ‘Chowk Minar’ was also constructed at a cost of 1.3 million afs, he added.
A municipality engineer, Shah Mohammad Jalali, said multiple development and city expansion projects were underway in Farah City. He hoped the schemes would be put into service in the near future.
Different development projects worth 96 million afs were being executed in different districts of the city by the municipality, Jalali explained.
A resident of the Askarabad area of Farah City, Nawkhan, expressed his pleasure over the reconstruction projects implemented by the municipality.
Problems such as traffic jams would be resolved with the expansion of roads, the resident believed.
