KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ainak Radio station has started broadcasting services in central Logar province, officials said on Sunday.
Ainak Radio has gone on air at a time when six other private and public radio stations are already operating in the province.
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said at the inaugural ceremony the government was supportive of media freedom.
However, he urged media outlets to manage their operations within the framework of Shariah law and IEA rules and regulations.
Information and Culture Director Rafiullah Samim claimed the media situation in Logar had changed for the better since the takeover over by IEA.
The official said they experienced no problems between the interim government and news organisation in the province so far.
The director assured he would spare no effort in providing support for media organisations.
At the same time, local media representatives hailed the radio station’s launch as an important development in the field of media.
Currently, two public and five private radio stations are operating in Logar, in addition to two monthly magazines published by the Information and Culture Department.
