KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi says imports from China through Kyrgyzstan should be further facilitated.
During a meeting with visiting Kyrgyz delegation led by Minister of Economy and Trade Daniyar Amangeldiev, Muttaqi called for making Kyrgyzstan a successful transit route
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said the two sides also discussed enhanced bilateral and transit trade ties.
Muttaqi briefed the Kyrgyz delegation on recent developments in Afghanistan, highlighting improved security and stability.
He believed the fresh developments have created favorable opportunities for further growth of trade relations between the two nations.
He appreciated Kyrgyzstan’s policy towards Afghanistan and stressed the need to increase facilities for Afghan traders to import goods from China through Kyrgyzstan.
Muttaqi said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) had initiated major economic projects and was ready to commence practical work on significant regional initiatives such as CASA-1000.
For his part, Amangeldiev acknowledged extensive relations between the two countries, citing prospects for to further increasing exports and imports.
He highlighted opportunities for cooperation in various sectors, including trade, transport, transit, energy, agriculture and higher education.
The visiting minister of economy is heading a group of Kyrgyz businessmen, aiming to engage with the Afghan government and private sector representatives
Muttaqi stressed the need for facilitating issuance of visas to Afghan businessmen for the promotion of trade. He reaffirmed MoFA’s commitment to bilateral cooperation in all areas.
