4-km road being constructed in Nuristan

PARON (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on a 4-kilometre long road in eastern Nuristan province, an official said on Wednesday.

Rural Rehabilitation and Development head Maulvi Ehsanullah Ahmad said the road from Wigal district to Katar village would cost $154,000.

According to Ahmad, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has funded the road project that would take four months to complete.

The project includes construction of retaining walls, bridges and culverts, widening of the road and other works.

Nuristan is a mountainous province where residents lack basic services.
