QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): State land measuring more than 750,000 acres has been wrested back from usurpers in western Badghis province last year.
Abdul Hai Munir, Director of Land Grab Prevention Commission, told Pajhwok Afghan News more than 750,000 acres of state land was reclaimed in different areas of the province in the last one year and the process will continue until all state land is recovered.
Without providing details, he said the recovered lands had been usurped by some powerful individuals and officials of the previous government during the past few decades.
Some residents were also happy over the recovery of usurped state lands.
Amir Mohammad, an inhabitant of Qala-i-Naw city, welcomed the development and said the state land recovery process should be implemented transparently and without any discrimination.
He emphasized the commission concerned should reclaim all state lands from usurpers in the province.
Meanwhile, Syed Mahmood Fahim, a university teacher, said the reclaimed land should be used to for construction of public buildings such as mosques, schools, clinics, Eid Gah and green spaces.
Earlier, the caretaker government has formed a commission consisting of various government agencies to prevent state land grabbing and wrest back usurped lands.
