US asks countries to take permission for IEA leaders’ travel

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has urged countries to take permission for the travel of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) officials placed on no-fly list.

A IEA delegation headed by Acting Minister of Interior Sirajuddin Haqqani traveled to the United Arab Emirate (UAE) on Tuesday.

To a query about Haqqani’s UAE visit, States Departments spokesman Mattew Miller said: “I would like to say that countries that host IEA officials banned by the United Nations from traveling must obtain permission for their travel.”

He said it was essential for UN member states to follow these laws.

Meanwhile, Idrees Zazi, a political analyst, told Pajhwok Afghan News earlier IEA leaders in this list could not travel to any country.

According to him, it is necessary caretaker government officials to travel to foreign countries to convey their message to the world and remove misunderstandings.
