UNICEF promises to expand health services in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): UNICEF has assured of full cooperation to solve problems plaguing Afghanistan’s health sector and promised to continue and expand its services.

In a statement, MoPH said Acting Public Health Minister Maulvi Noorjalal Jalali and UNICEF head for Afghanistan Dr. Tajuddin Avila and his delegation discussed ways to develop the health system and resolve existing problems.

They conferred on mother-child health, the treatment of malnourished patients, polio vaccination, construction of health centers in remote areas, the supply of medicines and equipment to health centers and timely delivery and transparency in health services.

The UNICEF representative assured the acting minister of full cooperation and efforts to solve the existing problems.

It comes a week after the Japanese ambassador in Kabul during a meeting with Jalali said his country will continue its cooperation with the Afghan health sector as it did in the past.
