TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): About 5,000 acres of land have been allocated for the construction of an agriculture complex in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, an official announced on Tuesday.
Abdul Manan Farooqi, spokesman for the Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the land was located in the Anzargi area of the provincial capital.
He promised efforts would be made for the development and promotion of agriculture and livestock with the construction of the complex in the province.
It is yet to be known when the construction work will start on the project. However, officials assured practical work on the scheme would kick off in the near future.
He added efforts had been accelerated to find market for domestic products after the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) takeover.
On the other hand, residents and farmers of the province are also happy over the allocation of land for the construction of an agriculture complex.
Niamtullah, a resident of Tirinkot, hoped a good market would be found for their products with the completion of the project.
Earlier, about 3,500 acres of land had been allocated for an industrial park in the province, but construction work on it is yet to be launched.
