KABUL (Pajhwok): Amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are all poised to hold strategic dialogue on a wide range of issues today (Monday).
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Riyadh to attend the ministerial meeting, state news agency TASS reported.
According to the report, Lavrov will hold a wave of meetings on the sidelines of the event on the regional and international issues, including security in the Gulf, crisis settlement and coordination on the hydrocarbon market.
Delegation chiefs are expected to confer on the escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict, developments in Syria, Yemen and Libya. The implementation of joint projects, trade and investment cooperation and clear energy are also on the agenda.
The dialogue comes amid an objective global trend of boosting new growth and development centers beyond the West.
