KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate on Friday condemned a brutal attack on civilians in central Daikundi province, vowing to find and bring to justice the perpetrators.
At least 14 people were shot and killed and six other injured in the attack on the Daikund-Ghor highway.
The victims wanted to welcome pilgrims returning from Karbala, Iraq, when they were stopped under the guise of taking pictures by four armed motorcyclists.
Islamic Emirate chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on social media platform X that 14 people were killed and six others were injured yesterday’s attack in an area on the border between Daikundi and Ghor provinces.
Mujahid said the brutal act was the handiwork of the enemies of humanity.
“Islamic Emirate strongly condemns this barbaric act as its obligation to protect people’s lives and property.”
“We share our deepest condolences with the bereaved families. We are making serious efforts to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
ISIS or Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack in a video.
