KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Vice and Virtue Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi has said the implementation of Sharia law is both a duty of the Islamic system and a demand of Afghan society.

He emphasized there will be no hesitation in efforts to achieve this goal.

In a post on X, the Ministry of Vice and Virtue (MoVV) said that Hanafi made these remarks during a meeting with Dr. Muhammad Saeed Ayyash, the director of the OIC mission in Afghanistan, who recently visited the country.

The two sides discussed MoVV's new morality law and explored ways to clarify and enhance their cooperation.

Sheikh Hanafi emphasized that promoting virtue and preventing vice was a religious obligation for all Muslims.

He noted that the new morality law has been formulated in accordance with Islamic Sharia, hadiths, and Hanafi jurisprudence to better facilitate this mandate.

He reiterated that implementing Sharia was a responsibility of the Islamic system and a request from Afghan society, assuring that there will be no reluctance in this matter.

Hanafi also said they were committed to comprehensive cooperation with the OIC and encouraged continued collaboration.

Dr. Ayyash praised MoVV activities, calling them positive and commendable.

He recognized the promotion of virtue and prevention of vice as essential duties of the Islamic system, highlighting their valuable role in societal reform. He assured that the OIC would continue its cooperation with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as it did before.
