HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Blacktopping of a road has begun in western Herat province and the project will cost 42 million afghanis , an official said on Sunday.
In the opening ceremony, Mayor Mullah Nematullah Hassan said the project included asphalt work and construction of culverts on the north lane of Maulvi tank road.
The road from Jebriel Bridge in the 12th and 13th districts has a total length of 2,600 meters and a width of 10.5meters.
He said this project valued more than 42 million afghanis and has been funded by the municipality.
This road is one of the big development projects of Herat Municipality and its completion will prevent traffic accidents and provide many facilities for citizens, the mayor explained.
Meanwhile, residents, happy with the project, said it would develop the city, and prevent traffic congestion and accidents.
According to Pir Mohammad Aria, a resident of Maulvi Tank area, the construction of this road will make the city more beautiful and will also significantly reduce traffic accidents.
This project will be completed and put into service by a private construction company.
