KABUL (Pajhwok): Japan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Takayoshi Kuromiya, announced plans to host an international conference focused on Afghanistan's cultural heritage.
The event aims to raise global awareness and garner international support for the preservation and restoration of the country’s historical and cultural assets.
Maulvi Atiqullah Azizi, Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, met with Ambassador Kuromiya today, as reported by the state-run Bakhtar News Agency.
During the meeting, Azizi emphasized the deep historical and cultural ties between Afghanistan and Japan, describing them as long-lasting and invaluable.
Azizi also praised Japan's consistent contributions to the restoration of Afghanistan's historical monuments, noting the country's significant financial support for preservation projects.
Ambassador Kuromiya acknowledged the Ministry of Information and Culture’s ongoing efforts in cultural preservation and expressed Japan's appreciation for these initiatives.
He stressed that Japan views the safeguarding of Afghanistan’s cultural heritage as a critical priority and encouraged continued dedication to these projects.
The Ambassador noted that sustained commitment from Afghanistan would likely attract further international support for cultural preservation efforts.
He revealed Japan’s plans to host an international conference in Tokyo dedicated to Afghanistan’s cultural heritage.
