KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi has underlined the need for practical measures in implementation of major economic projects between Kabul and Tashkent.
Uzbekistan newly appointed ambassador to Afghanistan Oybek Usmanov presented a copy of his credentials to Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi here today (Wednesday), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.
Muttaqi welcomed the new Uzbek ambassador and assured his ministry would fully cooperate with him in related matters.
He called the active embassies of the two countries in the capitals of both countries a sign of progress in bilateral ties and underlined the need for necessary practical steps towards implementation of major economic projects between the two countries.
For his part, Uzbekistan newly appointed ambassador called the atmosphere of ties between two countries as exceptional and promised that he would make efforts to further enhance these relations during his mission.
He pointed out the high-level exchange of delegations between the two countries as an example of close ties.
Oybek Usmanov succeeds Yadgarkhoja Shadmanov, who worked as Uzbek ambassador to Kabul from 2012 to 2024.
