111 Jawzjan IDP families get shelters

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The Department of Refugees and Repatriation (DRR) in northern Jawzjan province have constructed homes for 111 Internally Displaced Families at a cost of 39 million afs in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Tuesday.

Refugees Department Director Damullah Amanullah Talha said: “a total of 111 shelters, each with two living rooms, a hallway, and a toilet, were constructed on permanent bases in the Aqcha and Qushtiya districts and Shiberghan City.”

He said these shelters were built by the AKRO Foundation with the 39 million afs financial support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in coordination with the Jawzjan Directorate of Refugees and Repatriates.

He added that in addition to building houses for the displaced, the program also provided work opportunities for 450 local residents for six months

Mohammad Yasin, a resident of Darzab district, who got shelters, said earlier he lived in a tent and faced hundreds of problems.

Khirullah, a resident, said that he was happy to get a shelter. “We were sick from the heat in the summer and from the cold in the winter, we lived life with great helplessness, thanks to Allah a shelter was built for us.”

He also asked the Islamic Emirate to pay attention to construction of a clinic and a school in their area.
