KABUL (Pajhwok): Dozens of mosques are being built in 57 areas of capital Kabul based on a degree of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) supreme leader.
The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MoUDH) wrote on its X handle: “Based on a degree of Amir al-Mu’minin (may Allah protect him), dozens of mosques are being established in Kabul city.”
It said to implement the directive, a joint technical committee has been formed, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Vice and Virtue (MoVV), the Kabul Municipality and MoUDH.
The committee has identified locations within Kabul city for construction of these mosques, the ministry added.
Engineer Mohammad Yasin Hotak, an official at MoUDH, stated that they have identified 99 locations in Kabul city, out of which mosques will initially be constructed in 57 locations based on current needs.
Hotak said they had surveyed 22 police districts of Kabul city to identify areas where mosques were needed.
MoUDH is preparing blueprints, conducting surveys, and drafting sketches for these identified sites. After receiving requests from the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs, they will create detailed architectural plans.
He further explained that once the designs are finalised, procurement processes will follow, and then the projects will proceed to the implementation phase, with MoUDH supervising the implementation process.
