Nangarhar families reconcile, end 13-year-old enmity

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two families reconciled and ended their 13-year-old enmity in eastern Nangarhar province following mediation of tribal elders and local officials, an official said on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Syed Taib Hamad told Pajhwok Afghan News the feud surfaced between the two families 13 years ago over land that caused personal and financial losses on both sides in Waigal area of Dar-e-Noor district.

He said the two families reconciled and forgave each other following efforts of tribal elders, religious scholars and local officials.

These families are happy to be reunited after more than a decade with a peace treaty and to embrace each other.

Rahmatullah, a member of Kamal Shah's family, thanked the officials and tribal elders for turning years of hostility between them into friendship and extinguishing the fire that had flared up between them.

In this regard, a meeting was held in Waigal region and both sides pledged to never again try to harm each other and to always live in an atmosphere of brotherhood.
