KABUL (Pajhwok): The President of Uzbekistan has emphasized the importance of constructive engagement with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) during the opening ceremony of the fourth Tashkent International Investment Forum.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said, “Another important issue on the world agenda is supporting the peaceful and sustainable development of neighboring Afghanistan. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to engage in constructive dialogue with the current government of this country on the international stage and to prevent its isolation.”
The fourth “Tashkent International Investment Forum” was inaugurated on Wednesday, with a delegation from the IEA, led by Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, also participating in the event.
In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Afghanistan (MoCI) noted that the forum, attended by presidents, prime ministers, ministers, heads of international economic organizations, and hundreds of prominent investors from the region and beyond, has become one of the largest economic events in the region.
It added that the primary focus of the forum was to explore investment opportunities, strengthen economic cooperation, and facilitate trade among regional countries.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Afghan delegation held discussions with several trade and economic ministers, heads of major companies, and representatives of regional and international investment organizations regarding investment opportunities in Afghanistan—particularly in the sectors of mining, energy, agriculture, transit, and industrial production.
