Herat accident: Hari Karwan company officials summoned

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The governor of western Herat province has ordered summoning officials of the Hari Karwan Transportation Company after a deadly accident claimed about 80 lives.

In a statement, the provincial Media Office wrote officials from the Hari Karwan transportation company have been summoned to investigate last night’s deadly traffic accident, on the orders of governor Maulana Noor Ahmad Islam Jar.

It said officials of the company have been summoned to fully investigate the heartbreaking incident.

The Islamic Emirate has called last night’s traffic incident in Herat as painful and, while expressing condolences, has directed transportation officials to provide accurate information about the incident as soon as possible and share details about the party at fault.

Last night, a “580” passenger vehicle traveling from the Islam Qala border to Kabul collided with a motorcycle and a Mazda cargo truck carrying fuel on the Herat Ring Road in the vicinity of the Guzara district of the province, and then caught fire.

About 79 people, including 76 recently returned immigrants from Iran, died in the accident.
