KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) has announced that 185 new transport companies were established during the past solar year, bringing the total number of active firms in the country to 900.
In a statement posted on its X, the ministry said its Transport Services Regulation and Provision Directorate registered and licensed 115 cargo and 70 passenger transport companies in solar year 1404.
The ministry added that the 900 transport companies currently operating nationwide provide services for both passenger movement and the transportation of commercial goods.
Separately, the ministry reported that 20,222 transport vehicles were equipped with GPS devices during the same year.
Overall, nearly 40,000 passenger and cargo vehicles across the country have now been fitted with GPS systems and the process continues in an organised manner.
