PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Three people have been killed and four others injured in an armed attack on several individuals in the Khinjan district of northern Baghlan province. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
In a statement, the Baghlan police headquarters said that around 6:40 p.m. on Monday night, an armed attack on members of a family inside a mosque in the Chawkak area of Khinjan district left three people dead and four others injured.
The source confirmed that two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
The injured were first provided initial medical treatment at Khinjan district hospital and were later transferred to the provincial hospital.
The statement reads: “According to preliminary information, the incident resulted from a family dispute. It is reported that some time earlier, a member of the victims’ family, who is currently in police custody, had caused a married woman to flee her home. Later, the woman’s father and brothers entered the mosque during evening prayers and carried out an armed attack on relatives of the person in police custody.”
It added that one of the suspects fled the scene after the attack and security forces have launched a manhunt for his arrest.
