KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has provided 530 tonnes of essential aid to the people of Gaza, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry said the assistance, valued at nearly 500,000 US dollars, was delivered on the directive of Prime Minister Mullah Hassan Akhund.
It said the aid package includes food, clothing and other essential items and will be distributed to around 22,000 households.
It added that the supplies were procured by an IEA delegation in Egypt and transported to Gaza via the Rafah crossing.
MoFA called on “influential parties” to make meaningful efforts towards establishing a ceasefire in Gaza.
It reiterated IEA’s position on the Palestinian issue, stressing that it should be resolved based on historical realities and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
