KABUL (Pajhwok): Director of Strategic Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Abdul Hai Qanit has participated in a roundtable discussion titled “Ensuring Water Security in Central Asia under Climate Change.”
In a statement posted on X, the Centre for Strategic Studies of Afghanistan said the event was jointly organised by the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
The statement added that Qanit attended the meeting, which was hosted in Turkey.
During the discussions, Qanit stressed the importance of establishing a joint framework for water management.
He underscored the need for inclusive participation of all basin countries, improved information sharing, reduction of water losses, sustained technical dialogue and collective action to address the impacts of climate change.
The meeting also highlighted Afghanistan’s role in regional water dynamics and the need to strengthen cooperation among countries to ensure effective and equitable management of shared water resources.
