KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MoUDH) says residential plots have been distributed to earthquake-affected families from eastern Kunar province in a newly built township on 500 acres of land in Khewa district of Nangarhar province.
In a statement, the ministry said families from Kunar whose homes were destroyed in the recent earthquake were allocated residential plots in the newly constructed township in the Gambari area of Khewa district.
It said the township has been designed under a standard urban plan, which includes residential plots as well as roads and basic infrastructure.
The statement added that land has also been allocated within the township for a school, religious seminary, mosque, health clinic and cemetery to ensure a complete and dignified living environment for residents.
Minister of Urban Development and Housing Mawlawi Najib told a ceremony in this regard that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) was working to strengthen earthquake-affected families and train them as active members of society, so they could move from aid recipients to contributors.
On November 25, 2025, the Nangarhar provincial office said 500 acres of land had been allocated in the Gambari desert for 2,500 earthquake-affected families from Kunar province based on an order from the supreme leader of IEA.
